Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs served as a safe haven for Native Americans. A center of trade between nomadic tribes, this site was sacred, so even warring tribes laid down their arms when entering the place. The Ute people are believed to be native to the area—they made the land around the formations their home during the winters.
